Description

The organist Johannes Schultz had a collection of Christmas and New Year music printed in Hamburg in 1645, which still invites people to make music together today. We are publishing four motets for eight voices and two choirs based on well-known hymns (Veni Redemptor gentium, Nun komm der Heiden Heiland, Ein Kindelein so löbelich, Gelobet seist du Jesu Christ) and a quodlibet of five Christmas carols (e.g. In dulci jubilo). In the motets, a high choir is contrasted with a low choir. Our edition contains a score and all necessary individual parts, all texts are underlaid. The pieces in this collection are suitable for festive singing and playing at Christmas and New Year in every conceivable combination.
